We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Before and After School Care operates within St. Gertrude’s Catholic Primary School Smithfield. This provides safe supervision and activities within school grounds for students at St. Gertrude’s.Β
At St Gertrudeβs Catholic Primary School we encourage regular communication between parents and teachers through a fortnightly newsletter, the Compass student information system, along with an app, emails, phone and social media. Parents are encouraged to make an appointment via email, phone or in person when required.
The Parents & Friends Committee (P&F) plays a very special and significant role in the integration of school, home and community. All parents are invited to become members of this group. The P&F Committee, elected at an Annual General Meeting, liaise between school executive and parents.
The aims of the P&F Committee are to:

- support and encourage school initiativesΒ
- promote social contact among parents
- encourage members to live a full Christian life.
