Five-time Golden Guitar winning singer/songwriter Amber Lawrence performed at St Gertrude’s Catholic School’s special lockdown concert on Friday.

One of the ways the school has connect as a community during lockdown is through weekly Zoom assemblies where on average 400 families have engaged to pray together and to celebrate student achievement.

“As a way to say thank you to students, staff and parents in our community we had Amber Lawrence perform live over Zoom. Amber was such a dynamic performer and it was wonderful to see the students dancing and singing along to celebrate the end of term” Principal Linda Katsibras said.

“The education of children is and has always been a partnership between school and parents; this has never been more prominent than during remote learning.”

It was good to be able to say thanks to our wonderful parents for their efforts during the term.

To conclude the lockdown concert, school captain Marie Slewa thanked Amber and explained how her talent helped to inspire and encourage the students at the school. She then went on to sing the chorus of her song Bring it Back.
