St Gertrude’s Catholic Primary School Smithfield’s new principal, Linda Katsibras, was very excited to be meeting and greeting new students and families to the school at the school’s open morning on Wednesday, March 24.
“It was wonderful to share in such an important part of the learning journey. Choosing your child’s school is a significant decision for many parents,” she said.
New and prospective families were given the opportunity to tour the school, see the students engaged in their learning, see the facilities and discuss the wide range of extracurricular and enrichment activities on offer at the school.
“As soon as I came into the school and was greeted by the students who were so well-spoken and so proud of their school I knew that I wanted this to be my daughter’s school because she would be nurtured here,” prospective parent, Barbara Hoch said.
St Gertrude’s is a vibrant, faith-filled community that helps students achieve their potential. The school is welcoming and their inclusiveness is evidenced by their multiculturalism and the quality of education witnessed by the multiple generations of families that return to the school.
The dedicated and proactive teachers ensure great academic and co-curricular outcomes for each student.
“I believe that every child deserves the right to the best possible education, I think this is achieved when as a school we know each student, we understand the curriculum and we employ the best pedagogies to engage each learner,” Mrs Katsibras said.
“As the principal, I feel both privileged and excited to be part of each student’s education.”
St Gertrude’s strong Josephite charism embraces Mary MacKiIllop’s spirit.
The school’s culture and traditions combined with its emphasis on teaching and learning help to make it such an outstanding school.
